about

inspired by Lewis Carrolls' Alice In Wonderland
thebushwickbookclubseattle.com

I was sort of surprised the night of this show that everyone hadn't written songs about the much put-upon Bill the Lizard, who is obviously the most compelling character in the book. Even though I assumed this subject was obvious, I enjoyed imagining the poor fellow's frustration with Alice, and the conversations they might have had. Thank you so much to Moe Provencher for embodying Alice in this, the first duet I've ever written.

I DON'T KNOW YOU - lyrics

Little girl
Who do you think you are
to come in here
and tell us what to do?
Giant girl
who do you think you are
to sit in there
and kick me into the air?

Little man
I'm sorry for the trouble
I don't know
How I got into this mess
Lizard man
I know it's not your fault
they sent you in,
but I will see you out.

Chorus:
I don't know you, but I don't know me any more
I don't know you, but I don't know what I'm good for

Little girl
I thought I'd seen the last
of your face
but here we are again
Cruel girl
why do you vex me so?
Take my things
and turn me upside down

Little man
I wish I could explain
I'm not myself
I don't know who I am
But lizard man
you're about as much use
upside down
as you would be upright

I don't know you, but I don't know me any more
I don't know you, but I don't know what I'm good for
I don't know you, but I don't know me any more
You don't know me, but I don't know what you're good for.

about

The Bushwick Book Club Seattle Seattle, Washington

The Bushwick Book Club is not your run of the mill book club. When we read books, we also want to write songs about them. And when we write songs, we like to perform them for an audience. So we book shows, and invite an audience to read with us!
